Origin & Establishment

The Jericho Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established in 1953, before the Israeli occupation, as an independent public service institution for the common good. According to the law, it is recognized as the official representative of its members, with defined tasks, responsibilities, and objectives.

Since its establishment, the chamber has been involved in providing services to traders and defending the interests of its members. It has established strong relations with many Arab chambers of commerce and sent trade delegations to visit these countries. The chamber has also engaged in mediation and commercial arbitration and played a role in drafting relevant laws, such as the professions and licensing law, and the income tax law.

The chamber operates under a general law, which is the Palestinian Chambers of Commerce and Industry Law, ratified in 2011. Its revenues come from membership fees, services provided to its members, and donations it receives.
